Coast to Coast: Grasmere to Patterdale

Trail description

From Grasmere this Coast to Coast stage climbs beside Tongue Gill to Grisedale Hause and Grisedale Tarn, then follows the low route down the Grisedale valley past Ruthwaite Lodge to Patterdale. Wainwright offered three options from the hause, over Helvellyn, St Sunday Crag or down Grisedale, all meeting at Patterdale. The path became a National Trail in March 2026.
