Trail description

A 4 km walk through the Soganli valley in southern Cappadocia, climbing about 160 m past rock-cut Byzantine churches carved into the soft volcanic stone. The best known are the Karabas church with frescoes of around the 11th century, the Yilanli church, and the Kubbeli churches, the only cave churches in Cappadocia with domes carved on the outside. Soganli is part of the Goreme National Park and Rock Sites of Cappadocia World Heritage Site, and the village is known for its handmade cloth dolls.
