Trail description
The second stage of the Machame route, 4.8 km from Machame Camp at about 3,000 m up onto the Shira plateau to Shira Cave Camp at about 3,840 m. Shira, the lowest of Kilimanjaro's three volcanic cones, is topped by a broad high plain at about 3,800 m.
