Trail description

A long, steep 8.1 km climb of about 1,670 m from Mülenen to the summit of the Niesen at 2,362 m, the pyramid-shaped mountain above Lake Thun. The path climbs through forest and alpine pasture beside the funicular, whose service staircase of 11,674 steps is the longest in the world. From the top the view spans Lake Thun and the Bernese Alps; the funicular runs back down.
