Trail description

A 2.9 km walk of about 140 m of climbing from Morteratsch station up the valley floor to near the snout of the Morteratsch Glacier. It is the largest glacier by area in the Bernina Range and the third largest in the Eastern Alps by volume. It is a typical valley glacier with a pronounced ice front, fed from the peaks of Piz Bernina, Piz Morteratsch and Bellavista.
