Trail description

The loop starts at Preda station, at the portal of the Albula railway tunnel, climbs on the marked forest path to the Lai da Palpuogna, goes round its shore and returns to Preda by the S-chagnen track. The lake lies at 1918 m among larches, about 5 km from the Albula Pass, and in 2007 it was voted the most beautiful spot in Switzerland in a poll by Swiss television SF 1. Since 1898 its water has been piped to a power plant at Preda, first built to supply the construction of the Albula Tunnel. The loop is about 5.2 km, with some 185 m of climbing.
