First to Bort

Trail description

A 4.2 km walk down from First, at about 2,167 m, to Bort, at about 1,565 m, above Grindelwald, passing the gondola's intermediate station of Schreckfeld (about 1,950 m) on the way. Most of the descent of about 600 m is on the alp roads across open pastures, with short stretches of path. The Wetterhorn, Schreckhorn and the Eiger north face are in view the whole way. The First gondola stops at Schreckfeld and Bort, so the walk can be shortened or done in reverse as a climb.
