Arosa Schwellisee

Trail description

The walk leaves the Arosa Zentrum bus stop on the Büdemjiweg and a path across the slope, then follows the Mittelbünden-Panoramaweg down to the Schwellisee and ends with one lap of the lake on the shore paths. The Schwellisee, one of ten lakes on Arosa's 10-Seen-Plausch themed trail, lies at 1931 m on the young Plessur below the Älplisee, in a basin dammed by rockfall debris from the Schafrügg. Before the Walser settlers arrived, a large Arolla pine forest surrounded the lake, and trunks from that time still lie in the water. The walk is about 4.2 km one way, with some 220 m of climbing.
