Cabaña Verónica desde El Cable

Trail description

From El Cable, the upper station of the Fuente Dé cable car, the PR-PNPE 23 follows a track and then a high-mountain path past the Lloroza lakes and old mines to Cabaña Verónica, a tiny guarded refuge at 2325 m built from the gun turret of an aircraft carrier, about two hours from the cable car. The refuge is open from Easter to October and has no water source nearby. Do not attempt it with snow, ice or fog; the official route continues on a steep stony path to the Horcados Rojos col, and the summit is for experienced mountaineers only.
