Brañas de La Pornacal y Los Cuartos

Trail description

From Villar de Vildas in Somiedo Natural Park, a track climbs the U-shaped glacial valley of the Pigüeña river to La Pornacal, a vaqueiro braña above 1000 m whose huts are still used by the villagers, then continues about 2 km to the older and higher Braña Viecha or Los Cuartos. It follows part of the PR-AS 14 Valle del Pigüeña route, a 13.5 km traverse that the Asturian mountain federation rates moderate; most walkers return the same way.
