Barranco de Masca

Trail description

A 4.4 km path through the Masca gorge between the village of Masca, at 650 m in the Teno mountains of Tenerife, and the beach on the Atlantic. Masca was a Guanche settlement before the Spanish conquest in 1496 and now has around 90 inhabitants. The gorge trail is popular but strenuous, about 3 hours each way, and can be life-threatening without proper preparation; the gorge path needs a permit booked in advance.
