Alto de Garajonay

Trail description

The walk starts at the El Contadero car park and follows the national park's Route 7 up a stone-paved track to the Alto de Garajonay, the highest point on La Gomera. The summit was one of the main ceremonial and religious sites of the ancient Gomerans, and several archaeological sites there have been excavated and prepared for visits. It lies in the Garajonay National Park, declared in 1981 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986. The walk is about 1.3 km one way with some 125 m of climbing.
