Vârful Țarcu de la Cuntu

Trail description

This long climb passes Cuntu (1,450 m), where a spring behind the weather station is the last reliable water and dogs at the summer sheepfold can be aggressive. The red stripe path then climbs steadily over alpine meadows along the Sadovanu ridge, marked with poles and cairns, and skirts the Olteana glacial cirque to the Țarcu weather station near the 2,190 m summit. Expect very strong winds and heavy precipitation on this far western end of the Southern Carpathians.
