Vârful Leaota de la Cabana Leaota

Trail description

This route follows sparse red triangle marks from the former Cabana Leaota, now abandoned with no services, past an old stone sheepfold onto open alpine ground below Vârful Românescu, then along a ridge path under Frumușelul and Vaca. It ends with a steep direct climb to Vârful Leaota (2,133 m), with views to the Bucegi, Iezer-Păpușa and Piatra Craiului. Leaota still has many active sheepfolds whose dogs can be aggressive, and deep winter snow calls for full winter gear.
