Trail Description

The climb to the summit of Pico, a near perfect volcanic cone that is the highest point in all of Portugal. The route is a relentless ascent over lava and loose rock to a small final peak that still steams from the earth below. Demanding and often in cloud, with a guide required and huge views over the Azores when it clears.
