Marvão Castle Trail

Trail description

A 3 km walk with about 140 m of climbing below the castle crag of Marvão, ending in the walled village past the Convento de Nossa Senhora da Estrela and the pillory. Marvão stands on a quartzite crag of the Serra de São Mamede, in Portalegre District. Its name comes from Ibn Marwan, an 8th century Muwallad rebel who built the first castle.
