Trail description

The walk starts at the PR 6 and PR 6.1 trailhead by the Rabaçal house, at the end of the access road from the ER 105, and follows the Levada do Risco, waymarked as PR 6.1, to the viewpoint facing the Risco waterfall, which falls vertically as a white line against dark rock. The levada runs parallel to and slightly above the Levada das 25 Fontes, and both carry water to the Calheta hydroelectric power station; Rabaçal, in Paul da Serra, looks over a large valley covered in Laurissilva, the native forest that UNESCO lists as World Heritage. The path does not continue past the waterfall, so the return is the same way. Access is paid through the regional SIMplifica portal, with a fee for visitors over 12. The route is about 1.6 km one way.
