Trail description

The PR1FAI from the village of Capelo climbs over the volcanic cones of Cabeço do Canto and crosses the ash fields to the Capelinhos volcano, which rose from the sea in 1957 and 1958 and added new land to Faial. The walk ends at the half-buried lighthouse and the underground interpretation centre.
