Willkawain Ruins

Trail description

A 3.2 km climb of about 290 m past the Ichic Willkawain site and the main Willkawain temple, continuing uphill past the Taitarruntu viewpoint to about 3,650 m. Willkawain is an archaeological site near the village of Paria, 6 km north-east of Huaraz at about 3,400 m. It is counted among the most important sites of the Wari culture and was possibly built around AD 1100.
