Moray Terraces

Trail description

A 6.4 km country walk with about 190 m of climbing from the Plaza de Armas of Maras, past the Portada Arcángeles and across the Ayahayco stream, to the Inca terraces of Moray at about 3,500 m. Moray lies on a high plateau about 50 km north-west of Cusco, just west of Maras. Its terraced circular depressions, the largest about 30 m deep, create a temperature difference of as much as 15 °C between top and bottom, and their purpose is uncertain.
