Trail description
Walk from the village of Maras down tracks and paths to the Salineras de Maras, the terraced salt pans in a side valley of the Sacred Valley. More than 4,000 small pools are fed by a salty spring and worked by about 380 families from the communities of Maras and Pichingoto, who run the site. Salt has been harvested here since before the Incas. An entrance fee is charged at the salt pans.
