Huacachina Oasis

Trail description

A short 0.9 km walk with about 15 m of climbing from the shore of the Huacachina lagoon through the village. Huacachina is a village built in a small desert oasis about 5 km from Ica, with a permanent population of around 100. Its natural lake, called the 'oasis of America', appeared on the back of the 50 sol note in 1991, and the name comes from Quechua wakachina, possibly 'hidden lagoon'.
