Trail description

Walk from the village of Sipán along the local road to Huaca Rajada and its site museum. It was here, from 1987, that archaeologist Walter Alva and Susana Meneses excavated the tomb of the Lord of Sipán after looters broke into the site. The mud-brick platforms belonged to a Moche centre dating from about AD 50–700. The richest finds are shown at the Museo Tumbas Reales de Sipán in Lambayeque.
