Cajamarquilla

Trail description

Short out-and-back walk on the track beside Cajamarquilla, a vast mud-brick city about 25 km inland from Lima in the Jicamarca valley. The site covers some 167 hectares and was occupied through the first millennium AD, when it was a trading centre of the Lima culture. Its ruins include temple pyramids, wide streets, plazas, cemeteries and underground grain stores. Excavations here found an 800-year-old mummy in 2021.
