Trail description
Forest-road walk in Østmarka along Nøklevann to Sarabråten, the ruined country estate of banker Thomas Heftye, who bought the old smallholding in 1852. Henrik Ibsen visited here on 26 July 1874, and Heftye's son built a dragon-style villa on the site in 1897. The villa was pulled down around 1922, and only its cellar walls remain, next to a 1946 memorial to fallen Milorg resistance fighters and the scouts' Donsbauta from 1955. Nøklevann was a drinking-water reservoir until 1983 and is now open for swimming and paddling.
