Gvepseborg

Trail description

A 4.3 km loop with about 215 m of climbing from Gvepseborg, the upper station of the Krossobanen cable car at about 880 m above Rjukan, over the Hovda hill and round past Eivindsronuten, reaching about 1,100 m. Krossobanen was built in 1928 as Norsk Hydro's gift to the people of Rjukan, so they could get up into the sun in the winter months, and is Northern Europe's first cable car. From the upper station, 886 m above the sea, there are views over Rjukan, Gaustatoppen and Vemork.
