Trail description
Loop through Bøkeskogen, the large beech forest in the middle of Larvik between the town centre and the E18. Given to the town by the Treschow family in 1884, it was Norway's first public recreation area, and it has been a protected landscape since 1980. The 296-hectare forest lies on the Ra, a great end moraine left by the last ice age, and hides two fields of unexcavated Viking-age burial mounds. A pavilion from 1938 stands among the trees.
