Vrelo Cave Matka

Trail description

The classic walk into Matka Canyon, from St Andrew's church at the Matka dam along the cliff path above the lake to the spot opposite Vrelo Cave. The first part is stone walkway with small bridges, then the path turns into an uneven trail at the water's edge beneath steep cliffs. Exposed sections have railings and safety wires. The path ends across the water from the cave, which is on the right bank and can only be entered by boat. Boat trips to the cave leave from the dock by the Canyon Matka restaurant, and you can ride one way and walk the cliff path back.
