Prozori Cave from Demir Kapija

Trail description

The Prozori, or Windows, of Demir Kapija are caves that open right through the limestone wall of the Vardar gorge, framing views of the surrounding hills. This walk leaves the town centre and climbs on the path used by the Sammiana hiking trail to the caves above the gorge. It is about 3 km one way with a little over 200 m of climbing. The last part to the caves is steep with many loose stones, so good shoes and poles help. A longer 8 km loop also takes in the Markova Kula fortress ruins.
