Medenica Peak from Galicnik

Trail description

Medenica (2163 m) is the highest point of the Bistra plateau in Mavrovo National Park, and the marked route from the old mountain village of Galichnik is its classic ascent. A 4x4 dirt road leads up below the rock face of Govedarnik, then a steeper mountain path climbs onto the rolling high plateau and up to the summit. The round trip is about 10 km with around 550 m of ascent, roughly 2.5 hours up. The top gives a 360 degree view over Mavrovo Lake, Korab, Deshat, Shar Planina and Stogovo; a national park ticket is required.
