Trail description

Magaro (about 2250 m) is the highest peak of Galicica National Park, the mountain between Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa. The hike starts at a small parking area near the highest point of the park road between the two lakes, climbs through forest and then over alpine meadows to the summit, with both lakes in view from several points. It is about 8 km there and back with close to 700 m of ascent, around 3.5 hours of walking. The park charges a road fee and an extra ticket for hiking to Magaro, and beyond the summit the red and white marks are easy to lose.
