Ljuboten Peak from Ljuboten Hut

Trail description

Ljuboten (2499 m) is the pyramid-shaped peak at the north-eastern end of Shar Planina, visible from Skopje, on the border with Kosovo. The ascent starts at the Ljuboten hut (1630 m), the oldest mountain hut in North Macedonia, built in 1931, and follows a well established, marked single track through scree, pastures and alpine scrub. It is about 4 km one way with 870 m of climbing, 3 to 4 hours of hiking. From the top you see Skopska Crna Gora and Vodno, the Jakupica massif and the whole Shar ridge.
