Karanikolichko Lake from Veshala

Trail description

Golemo Karanikolichko Lake (about 2210 m) is one of the largest glacial lakes of Shar Planina, lying just below the saddle between Kara Nikola (2409 m) and Sheremetnica on the border with Kosovo. The hike starts in the village of Veshala at about 1250 m and climbs close to 1000 m on tracks and mountain paths up the valley to the lake. The round trip is about 16 km and takes a full day, and the smaller Malo and Crno Karanikolichko lakes lie close by. This is remote high country, so go in summer and come prepared.
