Demir Kapija Gorge

Trail description

A walk from the town of Demir Kapija into the Iron Gate, the gorge where the Vardar cuts a narrow cleft through the limestone. After the river bridge the marked Sammiana trail leaves the road and follows the side of the gorge past several caves to a viewpoint beside the Demirkapiski Prozori cave. The cliffs are an Important Bird Area that supports Egyptian vultures and other raptors.
