Crn Kamen Peak from Ljubanci

Trail description

Crn Kamen (1,585 m) is one of the main summits of Skopska Crna Gora, the mountain just north of Skopje. The marked route starts just below the St Nikola monastery in Ljubanci, passes weekend houses and enters the Kosteni chestnut forest, one of the best preserved woods on the mountain, then crosses the Ljubanska river on a wooden bridge and climbs past a sheepfold to the peak. It is about 9 km one way with roughly 1,000 m of ascent and takes about 3 hours up. The river crossing can be dangerous after heavy rain or snowmelt.
