Trail description
From the Chambers Walk car park on Tauroa Road in Havelock North the tracks of Te Mata Park, shared by walkers and mountain bikers, climb about 280 m to Te Mata Peak (399 m), the limestone ridge that in Ngāti Kahungunu tradition is the sleeping giant Rongokako. The summit looks over the Heretaunga Plains, Hawke Bay and the Tukituki valley.
