Trail description

Out-and-back walk in Arthur's Pass National Park from the car park by Jacks Hut, briefly on the Arthur's Pass Walking Track, then across Bealey Chasm, where the river cascades between huge boulders. A short, steep climb leads onto a red-tussock terrace with small tarns and wide views of the surrounding ranges, including Mt Rolleston. The track then continues through beech forest, much of it on boardwalk, up the subalpine valley of the Upper Bealey River. Weather here changes fast, so carry warm layers.
