Zwanenwater

Trail description

A 4.4 km walk with 12 m of climb on the Zwanenwater's brown circular route, from the reserve entrance at the southern edge of Callantsoog around the Eerste Water and back. It runs through the dunes past the Zwanenwater viewpoint on the west side, between the Eerste Water and the Tweede Water, and north again past the Botenhuis viewpoint. The 600-hectare Natuurmonumenten reserve holds the Eerste Water and the Tweede Water, the two largest natural dune lakes in Western Europe, where more than 75 bird species breed. Entry is paid for non-members (members and children under 12 go free), dogs are not allowed, and the reserve opens 7:00-21:00 from April to July and from sunrise to sunset the rest of the year.
