Veliki Zurim Summit from Zagaracki Katun (Lukavica)

Trail description

Veliki Zurim (2035 m) rises over the Lukavica plateau in the Moraca mountains east of Niksic. From the summer shepherd huts of Zagaracki katun, forest roads lead north past Mali Zurim, then a red-and-white marked trail crosses scree and stony meadows to the saddle between the two peaks. The last part goes cross-country up the gentle grassy back of Veliki Zurim, avoiding the rocky step on Mali Zurim, for about 3.3 km one way with roughly 350 m of ascent, a round trip of 3 to 3.5 hours. The summit has a register and views over Lukavica, Kapa Moracka and the Moraca mountains. Access to the katun is by rough mountain road, and the upper part is poorly marked, so it needs good visibility.
