Trail description

Veliki Vitao (2,397 m) is the highest summit of Bioc, one of the four mountains that ring Trnovacko Lake in the far west of Montenegro. The marked trail starts in the old Piva village of Stabna and zigzags up through beech forest to the Stabna summer pasture, then climbs north over open grassy slopes to the top. It is about 9.4 km one way with roughly 1,400 m of ascent, so plan on a long full day for the round trip, and go in summer or early autumn once the snow has melted. Stabna is reached by a narrow road from Pluzine, and the Piva Nature Park office in Pluzine has trail information.
