Trail description
A big climb from the walls of Stari Bar to the chapel on top of Rumija (1594 m), the mountain that separates the Adriatic from Lake Skadar. The path rises through beech and pine woods, passes the Lumetici area and finishes on open rocky ground with a 360 degree view over the sea, the lake and the Dinaric peaks. Allow about 7 km and 1500 m of ascent each way, roughly 8 hours for the round trip, and carry plenty of water because the upper slopes are dry. Marking is patchy in places, so load a GPS track. Park on the small road just north of Stari Bar old town, a few kilometres inland from Bar (no public transport to the trailhead); spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons.
