Trail description

A full-day stage of the Peaks of the Balkans trail that stays entirely in Montenegro, from the lakeside town of Plav to the village of Vusanje. After a long 4WD track out of Plav, the route climbs through pine and beech forest to Maja e Borit (2074 m), then crosses the grassy Bora ridge facing the rock walls on the Albanian border before dropping to Vusanje. It is about 21 km with close to 1200 m of ascent, typically 8 to 9 hours. A car transfer can cut out the first 9 km of track. Walk it from late June to September; Vusanje has guesthouses for the night.
