Manito Jezero from Kapetanovo Jezero (Lukavica)

Trail description

An easy walk of about 40 minutes across the high Lukavica plateau north-east of Niksic, from Kapetanovo Jezero (1678 m) to the smaller Manito Jezero at about 1770 m. Both glacial lakes sit among open pastures and summer shepherd huts, with the Zurim peaks rising behind. The path is unmarked but easy to follow because shepherds use it daily, about 1.4 km each way with a modest climb. Reaching Kapetanovo Jezero takes an 8.5 km macadam road from Bara Bojovica that is only suitable for 4x4 vehicles, or you can walk it. Visit from late May, when wild daffodils cover the plateau, until early autumn.
