Trail description

Xocotépetl, also called Jocotitlán, is a stratovolcano of almost 3,950 m in the northwest of the State of Mexico, one of the highest summits in the state. This trail leaves the edge of the town of Jocotitlán and climbs on forest paths to the top. Since 1975 the mountain has been protected as the Isidro Fabela state park, covered in mixed forest of pine, oak and fir. North of the summit an open crater holds two small hills and fields of volcanic rock.
