Trail description

A 3.9 km climb of about 400 m from the Entrada Durango of Parque La Colorada, on the edge of Álamos, through the park's trail network and out to the slopes below Cerro Piedras del Cochi, just inside the mapped boundary of the Sierra de Álamos and Río Cuchujaqui flora and fauna protection area. The protected area was designated on 19 July 1996 and was added to UNESCO's World Network of Biosphere Reserves in 2007. Its vegetation runs from tropical deciduous forest in the lowlands to pine and oak forest higher up. The Sierra de Álamos runs parallel to the Pacific coast and is cut by deep canyons carved by rivers such as the Río Cuchujaqui, a tributary of the Río Fuerte.
