Nevado de Colima from La Joya

Trail description

Nevado de Colima is an old, extinct volcanic massif in Jalisco, the taller neighbour of the active Volcán de Colima 5 km to the south. This route starts at the La Joya viewpoint at the end of the park road and climbs on the Arenales trail and its continuation to the summit. Above about 4,000 m the pine and fir forest gives way to alpine grassland and mosses. The top looks across to the smoking cone of Volcán de Colima.
