Malecón de Progreso

Trail description

A flat 1.4 km walk along the malecon of Progreso, the beachfront promenade on the Gulf of Mexico north of Merida. The car-free boulevard runs for just over 6 km on both sides of the pier, lined with restaurants and beach bars, and the beach has held Blue Flag status. The pier, over 8 km long, holds the record as the longest in the world, needed because the coastal waters are so shallow.
