Iztaccíhuatl: La Joya al Refugio de los Cien

Trail description

A 3.7 km climb of about 760 m from the La Joya hut along the ridge of Iztaccíhuatl, past the four portillos, to the Refugio de los Cien (4,730 m), the hut below the glaciers. Above 4,000 m the air is thin: acclimatise first, start early and come down at the first sign of altitude sickness; register and pay the national park entry at the Paso de Cortés.
