Trail description
El Pinal is a volcanic mountain of 3,280 m in the Sierra de Acajete in Puebla, a few kilometres southeast of La Malinche. This route climbs from the west, from the Acajete side, on tracks and then a forest path of about 6 km to the summit. Mountaineers consider it an easy, non-technical summit despite its steep slopes. Near the top there is a camping area with a shrine to Cristo Rey, and the well-conserved forests are protected by a payment for environmental services scheme.
