Cerro del Fortín

Trail description

A 1.3 km walk with about 45 m of climbing from the Plazuela del Carmen Alto in Oaxaca up the Escalera del Fortín into the Cerro del Fortín state park, ending by the Guelaguetza auditorium. The hill looks over the Valley of Oaxaca and was declared a protected natural area in 2004. The auditorium, for about 12,000 spectators, uses the slope of the hill and hosts the Guelaguetza festival, also called the Lunes del Cerro, 'Mondays on the hill'.
